Hey everyone,
It’s been pretty busy since the end of the Kickstarter campaign. We reached over €20k with almost 750 backers, which is really amazing! From now on, I’ll keep sharing the news on production, fulfillment and future games once per month.
In this newsletter, I’ll update you on the status of production and fulfillment of River Rats, and tell you a bit more about a possible upcoming game. And, I need your input for it!
Production & Fulfillment River Rats
Below you’ll find all the info you need if you’re a backer.
Kickstarter Pledge Manager
We’ve received the funds from Kickstarter, which allows us to launch the PledgeBox Pledge Manager. This will be done today.
If you backed our campaign, you’ll receive an email from PledgeBox with a link to your survey. It’s important to respond to your survey as quickly as you can, since we need this information (incl. shipping address) to fulfil your rewards.
More info can be found in this update.
Printing in China
I’ve decided to print the playmats, poker chips and pouch in China as well. (The plan for the cards has always been to print them in China with WJPC.) I’ll be working with Whatz Games, a well-known manufacturer who have produced 7 Wonders Duel, Ark Nova and many other famous titles.
Sending directly from China to your home
Printing everything in China also allows me to fulfill directly from China. I’ve partnered with a company Send From China, who I got introduced to through other publishers who had good experience with their services. Shipping directly from China to backers will make the process much faster (no games on a boat to the Netherlands for 30-60 days and then games on boats to the US and UK), and allows me to offer Canadian, EU, UK and US friendly shipping more easily.
Local pickup for Dutchies will be available, but may take 30–50 days longer than regular delivery.
Current Status
Cards
Yesterday, I’ve delivered all the files for the cards: the front of the cards, back of the cards (red and blue), tuck boxes (red and blue), and a nice seal for on the tuck box. We are now awaiting confirmation from the designers over at WJPC that everything is in order. Then I will receive the electronic sample, and we can move ahead with mass production.
Playmat, pouch and poker chips
The electronic versions of the poker chips, pouch and playmat have been approved by us. I am now awaiting physical samples for approval, which should be shipped in the next week by Whatz. Once I’ve approved these samples, mass production of these items can start.
To summarize: We are on track!
New game?
Last weekend, I had some friends over to test out a couple of designed games in search of a new game to develop and publish. We played one game that ticked all the boxes for my next game: heaps of fun, easy to play, competitive gameplay and playable with a larger group.
But now I need your input:
Would you be interested in a competitive, trading-style game where you build poker hands? Or are you ready for something completely different, no poker hands in sight?
Let me know! Your feedback will help shape what comes next.
I’ll hope to be able to share more with you in the next monthly newsletter.
Highlighting another Dutch Game: Regulus
I’d like to highlight a game from a fellow Dutch game designer and publisher: Regulus, a high-fantasy arena sports game.
Humans, Orcs, Vampires and Dwarfs of the world of Regulus have gathered for an epic clash of arena combat to prove the prowess of their champions! Victory will only be scored if you master your positioning and the timing of attacks. Will you master the arena and overcome your rivals? It has asymmetrical teams, is highly-tactical and allows for character customization.
Their campaign is live now on Gamefound. Be sure to check it out!
